Every year, a group of Doug's a group of Doug’s family, friends and associates gather to enjoy two of Doug's favorite pastimes, golf and a good time. With the dedicated help of a legion of volunteers, the tournament draws a lot of old friends together, many of Doug's old golfing buddies to be sure, but also a number of his professional peers and ex-students who only play this one time every year.

There is always a Doug Purvis-style barbeque and party after golf - a good time every year with an auction included. Bidding at the auction is always spirited thanks to the constant donation of interesting auction items. The proceeds are all used for scholarships, grants and bursaries for deserving students at Canadian academic institutions.
